Hi! I'm Ashly the founder of Empowered Strategies and Consulting. I am so happy your here.

I began my career as a kindergarten and preschool teacher in the public school system. I loved being in the classroom—watching young minds light up with discovery and growth. But everything changed when I became a mother.

When my oldest child was diagnosed with epilepsy, I made the difficult decision to step away from public education. I needed to be present, to create space in our life for healing, and to give him the care and attention he deserved. I opened my own preschool to stay close to my passion while being available for my son. But, as many military families know, life is full of transitions. When we moved to a new state, everything shifted again.

Our experience with his new preschool was far from what we had hoped. It was there, through disappointment and frustration, that I made the decision to homeschool. I knew I could create something better—something more supportive and tailored to my son’s needs.

Then came COVID-19. Like so many families, I suddenly found myself taking on not just the role of educator, but also therapist, advocate, and support team. It forced me into a crash course in navigating the complex world of special education outside the traditional school system. And through that experience, I realized: this journey wasn’t just about my child anymore.

I began advocating not just for my son, but for other children. I became a mentor to parents who were considering homeschool or simply looking for a better way to meet their children’s needs.

What I’ve learned is this: education is not one-size-fits-all. Not every child thrives within the boundaries of a traditional classroom. And honestly, even the best-written IEP can’t always offer the flexibility and customization that homeschooling can provide. When you homeschool, you can build something beautifully personal and truly effective—learning that fits your child, not the other way around.

My mission now is to empower parents and caregivers to advocate confidently for themselves and their children. Education should be as individualized as the brands you choose at the grocery store. Whether you choose public school, private school, charter school, or homeschooling—I’m here to help you find the path that works for your child and your family.

This is just the beginning. Stay tuned for resources, workshops, support tools, and lots more blog posts. No matter where you are on your educational journey, you don’t have to walk it alone.
